Derek Jeter should’ve been at the All-Star Game!!!

I know, I know… For the past week or so I have railed against Derek Jeter for being voted as the starting SS for the American League; and yes I was even happy when Jeter decided his calf was still healing  so he shouldn’t play in the All-Star game.

But……

Derek Jeter was voted by the fans as the starting SS (foolish vote), he owes to the fans and I will even say it owes to baseball to be around All-Star festivities.  With the NFL and NBA in lockouts, this is an opportunity for baseball to shine and who better than the newest member of the 3000th hit club to highlight those festivities.  Jeter’s lame excuse for not attending the All-Star game was to rest his calf; the same calf that looked perfectly fine legging out doubles against the Tampa Bay Rays last weekend.  Even IF his excuse was legitimate he still should have been in Arizona to celebrate baseball.

I mean if it weren’t for baseball would we even know about Derek Jeter?

If not for baseball would Derek Jeter have made over $250 Million dollars (in salary) in his career?

So basically Jeter took the money he made for making the All-Star game; $500K to be exact and gave the finger to Baseball and the fans.  If I sound harsh, GREAT!!!

Fans come from all over to see the All-Stars and imagine how great it would have been for fans to see Jeter and take pics and get an autograph from Mr. 3,000.  I hate to remind Jeter but baseball is his job and sometimes we have to do things we don’t want to do but we SHOULD do!  Besides this could be the last All-Star game Derek Jeter will be elected to; it would be terrible if this is his lasting memory as an All-Star.

Lastly it seems like The Captain failed to remember what Joe DiMaggio “The Yankee Clipper” once said,

“There is always some kid who may be seeing me for the first or last time, I owe him my best.”

As always….

If there is something to be said, “It’s On Broadway” to step up and say it!!

  1. .Jeter batting for the Yankees against the Orioles in 2008….New York Yankees No. ….Derek Sanderson Jeter born June 26 1974 is an American MLB who has played his entire career for the . A twelve-time and five-time champion Jeters clubhouse presence on-field leadership hitting ability and baserunning have made him a central figure of the franchise during the Yankees success of the 1990s and 2000s.

    1. The guys got it all brotha and fu&*in killin it right now. If anyone should be the face of this league its my man Jeets. A Great individual i envy so much. But so much for his talent and work ethic (unbelievable) , but his heart and undying love the game that drives him further and further into greatness.

  2. Go home. Jeters a stud and he’s done a lot for baseball. I have no idea how I ran across this article some 7 months later, but like I said, go home. He has 3,000 hits, he deserves to be at the all-star game and he can do what he wants.

    1. Ha, put your feelings for Jeter as a fan aside for a minute take a look at Jeter’s numbers before the All-Star Break. Based off of performance at that time Asdrubal Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta were having better seasons. If you believe the being selected as an All-Star is based o performance that season then there is no way you can say Jeter deserved to start last season. If you believe the All-Star game is nothing more than popularity contest then Jeter deserved the nod.

  3. Why don’t you read his bio and do your research you sound like a teenage girl ranting because something didn’t go your way. Derek Jeter wanted to become short stop for the Yankees since he was a toddler, he grew up with the Legends that made baseball the American known sport!!! Before you talk shit walk in his shoes. Yeah so what he has money, ok, he was drafted n 1992 and played his first game in 1995. He has played in All Start Games For The Years 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Has five world series rings, and countless Awards including MVP. I think the guy more than PROVED he is a True Pin-Stripped Yankee && One Hell Of A Baseball Player. So Stop Talking Shit, Cause Obviously Your A Jealous He Spent His Whole Life Working His Ass Off To Be Where He Is Today.

    1. Lee, let me say i love your fire to defend your guy. With that said, I simply stated Jeter should have went to the All-Star in celebration of his achievement. The All-Star is not a moment for the fans but also the host city, its called giving back to the game that gave you the platform to be the success who you are. Be honest, was Jeter the best SS in the league by the All-Star Break?

No, he was voted because of popularity. Because of that I am of the opinion he should have been there, he didnt have to play in the game but being there would have been big for the fans. I am sure MLB would have had a special moment for his great career.

      1. How many people would rather watch Peralta or Cabrera at an all star game? The game is dull enough and you want a perrenial all star to not be voted in? It’s an all star game not who’s doing good in a half season game. People want the stars there. And yes, it is a popularity contest. You want people to watch don’t you?
